ABOUT

Inclusive Society through Football

This marks the tenth year since the establishment of our federation. With the progress made in the disability football within Japan and the deepening cooperation with the JFA and other members of the football family, our activities towards realizing an inclusive society are steadily advancing.

The national disability football teams wearing the Japan national football team uniforms of JFA make strides

Starting in 2023, the national disability football teams have progressively begun wearing JFA national team uniforms, and the national teams in each category will continue to excel. The men's deaf football team and the social football team were crowned Asian champions. We also had the privilege of hosting the First Asia Football Championship for People with Mental Health Issues in Osaka for the social football category, thereby creating an opportunity for people in Japan to watch matches featuring the disability football team.

Expanding opportunities for anyone to meet and enjoy football anytime, anywhere

As a new initiative within the ‘Inclusive Football Festa’, held annually since the JIFF's establishment, we have introduced a ‘Girls' Course’ as part of the ‘Football Playground for Kids with Disabilities’. Additionally, the Football Playground has been expanded as a separate programme in Minato Ward, Tokyo, creating regular opportunities for people with disabilities to participate, as well as providing opportunities for JIFF-registered coaches to work alongside them.

Cross-organizational ‘Access for All Declaration’ in the football society

As a new initiative, in April 2024, we announced the 'Access for All Declaration' across football organisations, aiming to sustainably and reliably deliver diverse 'opportunities' and 'choices' for everyone to 'play', 'watch', and 'get involved' in football, from grassroots to elite levels. JIFF has also reorganised its initiatives from the perspectives of 'playing', 'watching', and 'getting involved', and has begun efforts to improve the environment for 'watching' in collaboration with JFA, J.League clubs, JFL clubs, and others. As one of the initiatives for 'getting involved', we have expanded a system to subsidise accessibility costs for people with disabilities participating in coaching and refereeing seminars. Additionally, we are making preparations to promote the employment of people with disabilities within the football society.

We remain committed to our efforts in realizing an inclusive society and fostering greater cooperation among the disability football within Japan, members of the football family, and the sports community. We genuinely appreciate your ongoing understanding and support as we strive towards these goals.
